Have owned multiple versions of this type of device.some are straight readers without clone with multiple adapters for interfaces all the way back to IDE.Others have offline clone built in, some require software. My favorite for many years had a weakness in its power limiting capability and fried when it was used on a hard drive with a frozen spindle :(After trying more "modern" units I have found some really nice units with varying limitations.The most glaring of which was the need to power the unit from external power in order to use the offline clone feature.While this unit isnt the fastest it is reasonably fast, for SSD and small drives it does not require external power unless you are powering a hard drive with a large physical platter which I'd expect.The unit is small and light and reasonably well made considering its cost.It has earned its place in my laptop case for those times where data recovery from a crashed drive is required.

This really works. It is recognized at boot and it works well attaching after boot too when the OS is running. Im using a 18 terabyte HDD and i have had no issues.This is a vital product and part of any techie's kit.I wish i would have bought this before I tried other products.

This SATA SSD Drive Reader was defective. I attempted to read three different SATA SSDs straight frorm my desktop PC. The Reader powered up, but would not read any of the drives when connected to each one individually as per the Instruction Manual. And when I reinstalled the drives into my computer, all three worked perfectly. I have no doubt it was not the retailer's fault.

I needed to upgrade my EVO 970 256gb to a 990 2TB. This worked perfectly as a clone bridge, but it works great with any NVMe large file transfers. It's not like buying a single external hard drive, but is a hub/bus for external NVMe hard drives. Better than any flash drive!
