Simple but effective solution for accessing old drives or cloning them

This is a really neat and actually quite cost-effective solution for cloning or accessing old drives. An external USB 3 SATA caddy plus an NVMe caddy bought separately is going to set you back close to the price of this gizmo and will be much more of a hassle to swap drives around.At the time of picking this up for review I have to admit I didn't really have a need for actual 'cloning' of a drive. The last time I did that was for transferring a 2.5" SATA drive's content to an NVMe drive for my daughter's laptop which I did with imaging software. In fairness - you can still use that approach with this docking station as you have full access to the drives contents.I did run a quick cloning test using a small (256Gb) NVMe drive - copying it to a SATA drive (probably not the route most people will do but hey-ho!). This works great and is fully unattended. Simply set the direction using the switch on the back - press the button for 3 seconds and off it goes...Yep. You can probably see the potential for a complete "male-chicken up" here! Cloning isn't my main use for this drive but when I do it I will probably go the manual route with imaging software. No problem with the cloning process itself though which went through fine. It even does things like check that the target drive's capacity is equal to or greater than the source etc.Where I think this caddy would be really useful is for smaller IT departments who just need maintenance tools - or for callosal nerds like me that mess about with older hardware (note the Apple-branded 2006 hard drive in the pics!).Recommended for ease of use, ease of access and actually being quite good value.

It's always been a chore to get your old data onto a new computer. This will quickly copy one hard drive to another, and it will also let you clone an entire drive to another, which will allow migrate the operating system along with it. It looks to have been well engineered and built, and I'm sure I will get to use it for many of my future hard drives and also the old ones that I still have hanging around. It will work with M.2's, SSD's and HDD's. What more can we ask for. Money well spent.

This is a really useful hard drive dock and can be used for a number of different purposes.The first job for me was to rescue the data from the hard drive of a windows laptop, the screen of which had become broken.It did this flawlessly.Next i tried cloning the hard drive from a PC running Debian Linux OS.Here i encountered a problem.The OS simply wouldn't boot up after cloning, I had to manually restore the boot sector.I cloned the data from my back up NVME drive, this again worked perfectly.Through either Windiws or Linux, you can access both HDDs in the dock at the sane time without problem.The cooling fan is a little loud, but its useful if you've got a SATA drive in the dock generating a lot of heat.The price seems fair for a very useful HDD dock.Ive knocked a 🌟 off the score due to the Linux issue I encountered.I hope you find my review helpful.

To test the device, I gave it power and did NOT connect it to any of my computers. I slapped in a 1TB 2.5" SSD and a 2TB NVMe M.2 and cloned the 1TB to 2TB drives while I went to bed. Sadly because I was sleeping I don't know how long it took but when I got up the next morning and tested the 2TB by booting right into Windows and it was a perfect copy.I think this is going to migrate to my office desk and be a permanent addition and just power it off when not in use as a regular dock.For clarification: I was limited to 6Gbps max while doing my cloning because I was going from traditional SATA to NVMe... If you clone to/from 2 NVMe drives you can get the max 10Gbps pending on your drives.

Muy buena para trabajo de IT. Copie un disco de 250 gb a uno de 1TB en 27 minutos por medio de usb. Si fuera offline seria mucho mas rapido. Hasta el momento estoy complacido . Lo unico es que si sin querer le das al dock se sale el disco osea necesita mejor soporte o pongalo lejos de area trabajo.

Fan works good to keep drives cool. Easy set up. Fast transfer. Usb cord is also double ended c type. Very happy with how fast and simple it is
