I’m returning this unit ASAP.Over my life I might have purchased some 15 different PCs. Some I’ve liked more than others. Never have my hopes been higher, and never have those hopes dashed more than this one. There were two major problems with my unit.The usage for this unit was for me to rehost an elderly person’s 15 year old machine onto something faster using a VM.The first problem was this machine shipped with wifi adapter as an external USB plug in. That’s not great that one of their USB ports is in permanent use out-of-the-box for wifi but not a show-stopper. What was a show-stopper was that this adapter deactivates WiFi with every reboot. Sorry but I can’t ask my elderly user to get into network settings and turn on wifi every time they reboot.The other bigger show-stopper (the big one) is that this machine shipped with Mcafee pre-installed. I tried to uninstall it but no matter what I did, I couldn’t stop it from aggressively nagging me to buy a subscription. I have no other way to describe the behavior of the McAfee software as anything less than (ironically) ransomware…a virus. The McAfee nag screens completely hijack the whole screen randomly and force me to decline paying them money 4 times before letting me get back to my work. Over and over again.I suppose if I accepted one of their $50/month offers they would have left me alone for a while. That’s probably what most people do. But come re-up time they would be harassing my elderly friend indefinitely. This won’t work.Frankly, this feels like HP has allowed their hardware platform to become nothing more than a delivery vector for McAfee ransomware.They used to make great products, but I will never buy an HP product again.UPDATE:I cancelled my return. I figured it would be a lot of hassle and the replacement PC might have the same issue with the McAfee ransomware. What I did was to go to the Microsoft media website and downloaded a copy of a fresh Windows 11 and installed it over the top of the factory image. That does not have McAfee and I no longer have subscription requests hijacking my computer every 10 minutes. It’s completely legal and the original license is still in effect.I’m leaving my review at one star because all this special work I had to put in to make the computer work for my needs was so unnecessary. The hardware is great and the computer now runs like a top, but not good enough to get me past my my bad experience with the ransomware.

Works well, good speed for business apps, lots of RAM and storage. The nvidia graphics card is an older model that’s still manufactured but more than adequate for business use. I don’t game so can’t talk about performance. The graphics card has an HDMI out put, a VGA output and a DVI, which allowed me to connect an older but high end monitor using the DVI as well as a new HP HDMI monitor. Also has plenty of USB ports front and rear and a USB C port on the front. We added a 4-bay external drive dock with hot swap capability to used some older HDDs from other computers. It interfaces thru the USB C port. Also bought a USB C DVD drive for reading archived data files and ripping old music CDs. Don’t forget that you need to purchase speakers and web cam if you want audio and to broadcast video, e.g. Teams meeting. Standard speaker and microphone sockets are on the rear. Customer support from the Seller was absolutely excellent. They responded promptly to my questions thru the Amazon portal.

As others have pointed out, this desktop is perfect for browsing the web, writing, and some digital photo editing. Mine was easy to setup, worked perfectly out of the box, and arrived on time. Supports two monitors, one via HDMI, and the other via display port. No problems using the enclosed, small USB wi-fi device. Works perfect. A great deal. Highly recommended.

So far so good. My "fear" was having to give up my previous desktop as it could not be upgraded to Windows 11. I am not a gamer or user that needs excessive processing power or speed, as I primarily internet browse, use Micro Soft Office products, and a couple other off the shelf software packages (e.g. Turbo Tax, Quicken, HMS). Having migrated PC to PC in prior years, it gets more complicated with each transition (hence why I do everything possible to avoid having to do it). My hope is this machine lasts 8 years, like my last HP desktop did. To transition from my previous PC to this G7 Tower I bought a "cloning software" package from Lap Link. The cloning process took 49 hours to complete, however I am thrilled with the result. The 400-G7 Tower screen looks exactly like my prior HP machine, all the software and files cloned over without a hitch, and I am breathing a HUGE sigh of relief now that this is completed. This is a great machine, plenty capable for me, room to upgrade if needed, and I picked up where I left off with my old machine without missing a beat (excluding the 49 hour clone process). I use this machine for hours each day, and recommend it without hesitation for users like me.

this is a replacement for my aging old custom made cyber powercomputer windows 10 that did not support update to 11the computer is fast pretty easy to use performance is good software to keep it running good and fixes issues if and when needed.the onboard graphics works good but i needed a boost i added a geforce gt 1030 graphics cardand it works alot better for my purposesthe only issue i have at this time was the warranty. the user manual says go to support page give the info neededand it says the warranty is expired as of September 08, 2022 but i just got the computer in 2025 made no sencebut looking into it on there support pagesif i would have known that i would have looked into it before i made the purchase . and made sute i have some coverage with the product
