I am a huge Cerwin Vega fan to start and I have an entire 8.1 set up in my living room. This was the bass I was looking for. I nearly went with the more expensive 215s, and maybe I should have.This speaker sounds awesome! House shaking bass without even needing to turn it all the way up and with little distortion if kept at a reasonable volume. Besides being large and heavy, the perfect add on, until it messed up.I bought mine last July and used it at a moderate level (never going above half gain or over 80hz) with no issues until last December. Then it started making a loud scratchy noise while playing a movie. I tried several googled solutions to no avail.After contacting Cerwin Vega, they pointed me to the one and only shop in Kansas City that could do the warranty work so I took it there.The company Slice Speaker repair are awesome guys but basically told me they stopped doing repairs on Cerwin Vegas speakers because they deny almost every warranty claim and are NOW junk! The owner still helped me out and ended up fixing some cheap glue that had come undone and started making that noise.I that I got lucky my speaker wasn't blown and that I hadn't basically rented a subwoofer for the last 6 months for $600. Then 2 weeks later it happened again. I took it back in to the only shop I could and they had to recone the speaker this time. Unbelievable and what a waste of money on this Chinese made crap. All for show. There is no way to get my money back, the warranty is crap and I will be just constantly waiting for the next time im enjoying out for something to happen again.I live my older Cerwin Vegas. Best speakers I have nearly ever owned, but this over priced sub just lost my future business!

The sub is big and heavy. Its not the clearest sound I've ever heard but it is big physically and it puts out big bass. Its about what I expected. Great for loud music in a bigger room in a house. It would be great for a big party house. I wouldn't want it for a quality sounding home theater system.

I already had 7.1 with the Cerwin-Vega INT-118s V2 Subwoofer powered by a 500 W Carver amplifier and a Yamaha A/V receiver, but I felt like this would compliment that well. It did! The 18" subwoofer handles the bottom 2 octaves like nothing I've ever heard before and this one fills in the mid bass, without getting muddy. I tweaked the A/V receiver's bass crossover to the highest frequency and adjusted the volume to each of the subs to balance out the overall bass, which also freed up the other 7 speakers to handle louder volumes with less stress in the low end. To my ears, this is perfection. When watching movies the sound is much more life-like. When listening to music the foundation is there, without being over-powering or distorted.

I love the bass this thing puts out. I'm not even close to using it's full power. The 15 inch may have been overkill for my usage but I wanted it, haha. The only problem I had was it came scuffed (a very noticeable 5 inch scuff on the front). I'm pretty sure it happened during or after production before they ever boxed it up. The box was fine. It's the second piece of the XLS set that came like that. Amazon provided good customer service but the manufacturer needs to take better care of their products. Overall, I am enjoying the XLS setup. It has power, sound clarity, and punchy bass.

Failed after two weeks. Moderate listening level, infrequent use. Have had many Cerwin Vegas over the years. First failure. Dissappointing, but hope the manufacturer or dealer will make it right. Interestingly, amazon states a return cannot be processed as this is considered hazardous material. That could be humorous for multiple reasons...

The XLS 15s has a serious punch! It's sound quality and response is excellent and will only get better as I get some more listening time on it. From deep explosions originating from native 7.1 Xbox 1 games to the deep driving bass of classic country tunes to aggressive bass of metal and rock music and literally everything in between. I've been thoroughly impressed by its performance. The enclosure is well built and ported on the bottom as all other Vega's."Update"after seeing a few reviews about on board amplifier failures, I did a little investigating and discovered that under heavy listening the heat sink would reach in excess of 120* F, leading me to draw the conclusion of a little added cooling capacity is in order. I added a fan and temp controller and now don't see over 85* F under the same listening conditions.
