What an upgrade!

I had 2 Nikon SB600's and I felt that for portraits I needed something a bit more advanced to control them than the built in CLS system of the D700, having to keep diving into the camera menu (even having it assigned to the function button for one touch access) to adjust output of my flashes was a bit tedious. I had considered the SB900 but overheating issues kept me away and then this came out.There wasn't a lot of difference in price from the SB900 but I took the plunge 2 days before a wedding shoot.The SB600 is very basic and it was a gamble to use my new SB910 on a wedding as my first job but what a flash. Very easy to use. I swear the photos just seem to be a lot better with it on TTL mode. I know it has a higher output and coupled with the fact it can detect FX and DX sensors I suspect the metering is also superior leading to a much better experience which should be expected from a pro flash. It also knows when the head is being bounced up, used straight on or pointing down for macro to help it adjust for the situation.The back screen is fantastic as I am able to quickly look at it and see my camera ISO, aperture and focal length without having to use the top right LCD screen which is great in hectic conditions. The built in bounce card, diffuser cap and gels for tungsten and fluorescent lighting are also a welcome addition for me.During product shoots, being able to switch the flash into master mode allows me to continually see and adjust the values of my remote flashes much faster than using the D700's menu and it really shines for this purpose.You could argue that nearly all of these points I made are typical of the SB900, having no experience of it I can't compare but all I can say is for those who are choosing their first flash or coming from an SB600 this is a stunning flash. For those with SB900's I'm not sure if it is worth it, the SB910 hit it's maximum cut off temp during a wedding I shot every so briefly (1 second) and then cooled enough to continue. Maybe the SB900 would have been off for a lot longer but that's the only time it's came close and that was only once and I shoot regularly and love this flash.

I use this for shooting my charcoal-black puppy. My Nikon D700 does a good job indoors without flash, but the black color of my puppy was too much. I use this flash and bounce the light off the ceiling. The effect is perfect and lights up the entire room without looking like I'm using a flash. This lets me shoot ISO200 instead of ISO4000 and get great shots of her. I took it to a family party and got hundreds of great shots.I like that you can go rapid fire and pop a shot every second and the flash is always ready. Granted, I didn't have it on its highest setting, but still, the flash never slowed me down.The flash does wiggle ever so slightly on the D700 mounting bracket so I bought NIkon's WG-AS3 weather guard. That piece water-proofs the connection and adds a great deal of stability.I'm using the Sanyo eneloop XX 2500mAh rechargeable batteries. They last forever in this light.The auto-focus assist is a welcome feature. Sometimes I turn that on with no flash just to take flash-free photos but to get better auto-focus.So far I'm quite pleased with this purchase and am eager to learn more about the art of flash photography.

Llegó justo el día acordado, es un flash increíble; de verdad... no le falta de nada; la pega... Amazon lo importa desde Alemania, y como Nikon decidió incluir manual de instrucciones para cada país... pues que a mi no se me da bien el alemán jajaja pero bueno nada grave tampoco... aunque sí algo molesto ya que os aseguro que el manual es muy amplio y detallado... una pena eso; pero bueno ya se buscará en Nikon.es a ver si veo algo. Os lo recomiendo, y por supuesto no dudéis en comprar aquí.REEDITOEl manual se puede enviar por correo, si está en perfecto estado, a NIKON y estos te lo devolverán en el idioma que elijas.

The nikon sb 910 is a great flash, it handle well in all settings with TTL, Manual settings as well. The power sorting is excellent.

This is a review of the Nikon SB910 Flash.I had this for a while now and as other say it works fine, it recycles quite quickly and, of course, supports all features of the Nikon Creative Lighting System. However, after mounts of using it I have come to the conclusion that there are better ways of spending this amount of money on lights. First of all, as other said already, this is a "new" SB900 with the only improvement of not having the bugs of the SB900 and costing more, which is not nice. Second, the flash falls in a size which is somehow too large to be powered by four AA cells and used at full power but it is too small to get the big BOOP when you need it. The price of this gets you already in the monoblock group: Einsteins, Elichroms, they all cost about the same. Of course, here you are paying for specific auto-functions which actually work quite well, but at least for me this is the last time I get into this size of flash. I imagine that there are situation in which this is the only way to go but if you are thinking of using the flash on a light stand, with umbrellas, softboxes, whatever, I would recommend you take some time considering whether this is really what you need.Ah, the four stars instead of five are not for some specific feature of this flash which does not work properly, only because it is my opinion that Nikon should have recalled their SB900 and upgraded at no cost, instead of launching this at higher price and because there are details, such as the design of the bag the flash comes with and the quality of the plastic used for the casing which at this price point should be much better.
